On a 2004 Silverado 1500 rear end is the enough room for a 1" spacer between springs and rear end? Is there enough thread on u bolts to do this?

I do not like to re-use U bolts. They are cheap. Get whatever size U-bolt you need and put new ones in with your spacers.

I don't think the OEM bolts would be long enough. At least a new set isn't very expensive.

People often say they would not reuse U-bolts, but I've seen it done a zillion times at our body and custom shops over the course of about 30 years and never seen one fail.

I apologise if I am misinterpreting your intent. If I understand correctly, you are wanting to "stack" a one inch block with your stock block. If I remember correctly, yours ('04)should be a two inch? Personally I would buy a solid block that will give you the height you want. I know, "people stack blocks all the time and never have any problem". It just makes me nervous. None of my business really though. Some quick measuring should answer you question, but I do believe you will need longer u-bolts.

Well I am not sure what you mean by custom, do you mean pavement queen custom or hard mudder custom? I did not do much pavement queen custom, but ALOT of offroad custom stuff. I have seen U bolt that were re-used fail. Also the threads get stretched and then its a PITA to get them off later etc etc.
