Radio swaps

I have a 2005 silverado with the cd player,it does not have a port on the front for a mp3 player but does have the aux button ( what ever that is for ? ).

Does anyone know if a newer model stock radio with mp3 connection on the front will swap in my dash?

There are probably RCA hookups for a 6-disc changer or Axillary input on the back of the radio headunit. Pull it out and run a RCA-to-1/8" jack cord to your glove box or somewhere else of your choice and you are set.

BINGO! Kenny nailed it on the head. You can buy an aux input adapter for your stereo, but you CANNOT install a stereo from the newer body style GMT900 trucks. They have completely different databus operationg systems.

There are no RCA-style or 3.5mm inputs on any of the factory GMT800 radios.

That's the wrong adapter, it is for the 1995-2002 trucks.

You have three options:

1) If you have the ability to select XM on your radio (you don't have to be subscribed), you can do this which will be the cheapest option: http://www.chevyavalanchefanclub.com/cafcna/index.php/topic,93646.0.html

2) Get an iSimple ISGM575 adapter which adds iPod/iPhone integration along with an auxiliary input.

3) Get an aftermarket headunit.

Which is correct for my 05 radio, the iSimple ISGM73 or the ISGM575
