Cautiously optimistic- Poured in a bottle of Marvel Mystery Oil the other day and now the light went off, it passed emissions and is reportedly driving better.

I should sell it to some sucker before it breaks again. Anyone in the market?:p

it would probably have been cheaper to restore the old Honda...

So, the saga goes like this- We start shopping for a replacement CR-V for our daughter. Used prices are higher than expected, find a couple decent sub-100K 2010 CR-Vs, figure out the door cost is going to be about $12K. At this point, we decide it's dumb to spend that much on an 8 year old CR-V with mid grade or base trim and questionable history when my wife is currently driving a top of the line 2014 which also has a hair under 90K. When we bought that car, it was sort of the plan to pass it down to her anyway, so we start shopping newer cars for my wife. We don't like the new CRV, so UPGRADE! Start looking at Pilots, more money, tough to find one with low mileage and NAV. Shift gears again and look at Acura.

tl:dr- we bought a 2015 Acura RDX Tech pkg w/30K miles. A hair under $30K otd.

As for the old Honda, MIL has been borrowing it for a while, we told her we want to sell, she says "I like it, I want to keep it" I say OK, I'll sell for $1K. She says it's not worth that much, how 'bout $500. Online I found a "Sell you clunker" website that offered be $1160, waiting to seal that deal next week

Man, can't wait to see what MIL comes up with for $500. She should have taken your deal!

Funny thing is, she has a brand new Mazda3. But her grandson is using it while she drives the ancient Honda. :shrug"

It's quite a long convoluted soap opera.:stir:

Well, Ol' Blue got picked up today. I was feeling a little bad about selling...until I drove it. I'd forgotten just how bad that tranny was getting and the suspension seemed a little looser than I remembered.

Sold it through Peddle.com, they gave me a good offer. Quite a bit of miscommunication between them, a go-between company and the company that actually picked it up and handed over the check. I suppose it didn't help that the title was in my wife's maiden name and I was picking it up at work, but I did confirm the info repeatedly. Still, they had the wrong phone number and wrong address on the check. Name was right and the bank took it, so all's well that ends well
