On my 04 silverado 1500 with 5.3 I changed my electric fuel pump and every since then I have got a slight pinging sound when accelerating. Any idea what might be causing this to happen? Fuel pressure is spot on, I have run gas from different stations with no change.

Does it always do it, or just when you floor it. Some of the causes are a lean fuel condition, carbon deposits in the combustion chamber, over advanced ignition timing, wrong spark plugs, or overheating.

Just when I accelerate with load on motor. I added a bottle of 104 octane boost and it hasn't ping for a day so far.

I was going to suggest you run a couple of tanks of premium through it.

The octane booster you added accomplishes the same thing, but I'd still go ahead and run some premium through it. Since you've already used the booster, fill it up with premium and take that bitch out and floor it a few times and really get that carbon loosened up. You may want to change your oil in about a week or so though.

Also try running a fuel system cleaner through it. This will help if any of the injectors do not have a good spray pattern and help to clean some of the light deposit build up our of the cylinders.

My brother bough a 94 Suburban years ago with 200k miles on it that was pinging really bad. But he got it for SUPER cheap, so he still bought it. Tried several things, but ultimately he ended up having to run 93 octane in it all the time. If he filled it with 87, the pinging would come right back. But it was perfectly fine as long as he ran 93 octane in it.
