Yeah they have a learning curve that's for sure. In the powder though they are amazing. Lay em on their side and hammer the throttle. Yeehaw.

I usually dont hesitate when minor sure on something, I just hammer the throttle and hope for the best.

Learnt the hard way hesitating is usually worse then just gassing it quickly.

Hammering the throttle and hoping for the best is what planted me in that culvert a few years ago (pic on an earlier page)! I still usually operate that way, but sometimes caution gets the best of me!

Lmao, well that's why you don't ride where the culverts are!

I always make sure to go up on the road if the culvert isn't marked. Never had an issue with culverts yet. Last year I found myself in A ton of drifts that dropped 5' then back up 5' almost instantly. Thought to myself, I'm fucked, but I just hammered it and poised through it all.

That was literally m first time ever riding my sled outside if the yard and over 20 mph. Had me shitting my pants.

The culvert was off a corner (hard to tell in the picture) and there was about 18" of fresh powder that morning. I caught a ski in a track from the sled in front of me and it kind of sucked me off in the bar ditch on the side of the road. I goosed it so I could just pull out, and I knew there was a culvert up there since I could see the post, but everything was drifted in nice and I didn't figure it would be a problem to just blow right past it. It turned out that all the snow drifted in around the end of the culvert was soft blow powder (probably 5' deep), so as soon as I hit it I just sank in, rammed the dirt turnout for the culvert with the skis, and went flying. It broke one ski, and I had to limp out to the truck (about 16 miles) on one ski with a pulled groin muscle and a few other bumps and bruises. Lots of fun!

Ah that sounds like fun for sure haha

Last year I caught a ski in a buried barrel, was quite fun.

That's with the rear suspension fully extended. Shit was deep. Track sunk waaaay down.

Luckily, my house is just out of view across the street to the right. 30 second walk there. 30 second walk back with a shovel, dug the front down just a tad and she drove right out.

My dad had a 500 Polaris, it was WAY faster than my 400 Yamaha Big Bear, but mine was much better in the rough stuff offroad, probably because it was a manual vs the automatic Polaris.

I see. the Yamaha Grizzly did well, I liked when you put it in 4x4 both the front and rear were locked, no slip. it was also a pushbutton 4x4 so you can keep you momentum giong add power with the front. Most of the others have a limited slip front correct? I saw the polaris has the limited slip rear, if it starts to slip the front will kick on, even if its in 2wd? that would suck if your trying to do donuts :p

I like to try and tackle obsticals in 2wd, if I cant get over it or through it ill switch to 4x4

I've already considered to get an ATV, but it's nearly impossible to get them road-licensed back here.
