I've tried Pennzoils high mileage oil before, but went right back to Valvoline. I'm using the full synthetic Max-Life now. :D

Did you really burn the oil with the conventional high mileage oil? That was my experience. My oil consumption increased tremendously on one of my work trucks with the high mileage formulation.

Yep, and #7 plug was ashed over pretty good. I went back to Valvoline, and haven't had that issue since.

I like Synthetic and I had ran PP, M1 and Max-life for a bit. I noticed that the synth kept coming out much dirtier which make sense given the cleaning properties of this stuff. I didn't see the point of longer OCI's or wasting high grade oil when I am going to change it in 3k, anyway, due to the suspended particles from the cleaning action. I have since switched back to a good dino (Penzoil Yellow) and a cleaner additive to get the gunk out. After the motor is cleaned up I will switch back and see what happens. I will miss the low temp pour point during this phase as winter sets in and may regret this decision. Ed Now to find out why line feeds aren't working for me.

I use PP or M1 (whatever is cheaper at WalMart) in my "regular" cars (2000 Tahoe LT 5.3, 2007 Camry I-4, and 2009 Mazda 3), and Shell Rotella T syn 5W-40 in my old 68 Vette (L-79). Old Tahoe is my car, rest of the "new" cars are my wife and kids cars, figures. Use the Rotella because it has a higher ZDDP concentration (Diesel and Gas API ratings). Use Purolator Pure ONE filters.

Take a read on this study of M1 and Amsoil run on GM V-8 in a Camaro. Interesting. Led me to go to 5K oil changes with synthetic from 3K changes.

There are other filters that are highly rated also, but I like the extra filter media in the P1's, and the controversy over "flow rate" by having more filter media in the filter seems to have been dispelled over time.

Must have done over 25 - 30 oil changes with the P1's so far on all those cars, and have never had a problem. You tend to stick with what works and doesn't cause you any problems.
