Not too many folks left here, but maybe someone has tried this...

Has anyone painted the parking sensors and does it interfere with their function? I have chrome bumpers with silver sensors and will be installing black powder coat bumpers. I really want the sensors black and don't want to have to buy two new sets (10 sensors).

Also, I would guess that the aftermarket bumper is thicker than the factory bumper...will the factory sensors still snap in?

Finally, if painting won't work and the sensors won't fit the thicker bumper...will I still get warning lights and dings if I just turn off the switches for the parking sensors and leave them uninstalled?

I can't imagine that a light coat of black plastic paint would alter the sensor's sensitivity much. (signal is already going through about 1mm of plastic) I do know they can be transferred to aftermarket HD bumpers easily. Most have provisions for them if ordered correctly.
