Anybody in here do their own paint work?

I have a small compressor and gravity feed DeVilbiss gun and will paint small stuff myself. I won't tackle a big item or a paint job... not in my garage anyway.

Paint work is one thing that I have never attempted on my own. I would like to learn some day though for minor touch-ups (rock chips, scratches, etc).

I am still learning, but we do all of our own body and paint work. My Dad has done it for years. We have a 3 bay shop and in one bay we have installed an exhaust fan and a curtain that we can close to make a paint booth.

I did it once. It was a 12 - 24 - 48 job. 12 beers, 24 feet away, or 48 mph.

I used to do body work in the garage but there are too many elements that can make the perfect paint job more difficult. Like dust and improper lighting... I do all my painting at my brothers body shop!

I've never done professional sprayer painting but i'm a master with a can of Krylon :). With the right prep work, and Krylon Fushion for plastics, masking tape, and patience, good results are to follow.
