Oil Pressure

sorry, been busy today. its 2003, 5.3, and 123K miles. i think i'll have it looked at next month, bout to transfer soon, need to be sure its ready to be shipped and sit for about a month.

On some cars today, the oil pressure sensor is more a switch rather than a sender. It hits a min oil pressure & the gage registers a predetermined value. On the other hand, if it is a sender, ususally a ground circuit through a resistance, if the wire would short to ground, the gage reading would increase & could be why you see it during acceleration. Obviously, the easiest thing to do is to change the sender before you get into the more time consuming stuff.

I just had the oil pressure sensor replaced on my truck this Monday. My gauge was showing a solid 80 and maxed out. It turned out to be a bad sensor. $180 to replace it.



$180.00 that must have been installed. On our Mazda MPV the oil light started coming on right after I had the oil changed I know it has a Fram filter so im going to have the oil changed again but with another brand filter im thinking maybe the check valve on the filter is bad or im hoping.

Consider changing out your filter just a long shot.

Yes.. I agree.. Its more than likely the sending unit.. Sometimes you can see some oil seeping out of it..Will do it worse when its warm
