The 233/241 right? That's a good sized cam, good thing you got some big breathing heads. What's your compression?
241-heads aren't going to flow alot they arent anything special just a better casting than i had. They are 482-1970-its either 9 to 1 or 10 to 1---not sure i called the piston place and they said they are 10.250 to 1 but that depends on what heads. And the 76cc i had on it before were ok just crappy 624 weak castings. I don't wanna get a 64 cc head. Trying to pick out the cam to match what i got. springs...

As they say, "It will shit and git!"
All this is going in my 78nova-so ya know gotta have it decent.Im trying to make it a 6500rpm engine but just take it to 6-6200 for longtivity. I came across some where those fm vs739r valve springs are good up to a 550 lift---i don't wanna put in a 520 lift cam and it turns out the springs are maxed out at 500lift. Any input?

You betcha
My knowledge of SBC stuff is limited. I guess I'd run 986 or 987 springs after looking at the VS739R. Some people are saying the vs739r is overrated and should really be a .480 max.

You think 105# seat load is going to be enough? The 986 double springs are rated .540 max w/ 132lbs. But they cost a lot more it looks like.

Ok well your right its better to be safe than sorry. I can get a diffrent cam-thinking the com 280. I can get a regrind cam two its a 288duration-480 lift-110 lobe-2200-6200rpm...what ya think? The regrind cam is like 234 @50. I came across a forum guy said 500 lift max for them. Mine does have the damper.
