Jacka$$es!!!

This is definitely a major marketing scheme.

If we all went back to < 10% ethanol in our gas, MPG ratings would go up and so would power!!

You can actually get better power out of ethanol. The MPG's do suffer though.

I would actually like to build a motor that runs on E-85 or E-98. You can make great power on the stuff.

Ethanol is a proven fuel, and if it weren't for the oil companys we would have been running it in all vehicles since the model T , which did run on ethanol until the oil companys forced prohibition, at which time it became a "flex fuel" vehicle for 12 years until Ford gave up the fight.(1 year later prohibition was lifted).
Is it a marketing ploy...yes. Will it work in their favour....we'll see. Will junior be able to win with this superior fuel powering his car.....hopefully.

My buddy Tim's 8 second Opel GT runs on pure Alcohol. Only problem you have with a race motor on alcohol is getting enough heat in the motor. He generally drives his from the pits and lets it idle a lot in staging while all of the gas powered competition tows or pushes theirs.
