I'm looking at buying a set from DDM for my 4wheeler. If what you guys are talking about is true, I hope I can get the money to buy them before they get rid of them
I'm putting an order in tomorrow. I doubt they'll be gone instantly, but I'd do it before the end of the month to be on the safe side.

I got my HID's earlier this week.

The bulbs are different. The boxes are labeled with the temp (5k) and NO marking for the bulb type. My order consisted of 5 sets of bulbs (3 sets spares, 2 sets with ballasts). All of them have RED o-ring gaskets with BLACK o-ring gaskets with them. The older set I got last summer had RED and PURPLE. I'm assuming the BLACK ones are for either 9006 or 9005 bulbs (I can't remember which ones have the PURPLE that are in the truck now). Also on the boxes is a notice (quoted exactly):
This lamp should self-extinguish within 15 minutes after the outer envelope is broken or punctured. Is such damage occurs, TURN OFF AND REMOVE LAMP to avoid possible injury from hazardous shortwave ultraviolet radiation.
:wtf?:

The 55w ballasts are the same, but the 35w ballasts are slightly different. They are the same physical size, but have a metal boot over the wires coming out of the box that goes to the bulb. Not sure why unless they were having problems with the wires coming out. :dunno:

Oh, also DDM now has mounting brackets on their site for the Raptor ballasts (large ones) for $4 a piece, but they will hold the ballast farther away from the mounting surface making them stick out farther.

Anyways, just wanted to let you guys know! :tmc:

Use the bigger gaskets for 9006 bulbs, smaller for 9005.

Yep . I'm just gonna match the RED with RED and PURPLE with BLACK whenever I have to replace them.

"Warranties will be unaffected. I'll keep a stash for it." Whew!

Honestly, that will run dry someday and if he can sell them, he probably will. I wouldn't fault the guy for it. I consider the two sets of HIDs I've got as a bargain but for the $40 I payed, a lifetime warranty is a bit far fetched these days for something like that. Enjoy the cheap HIDs while you can but don't be pissed when the warranty is no good in five years.
