Just curious, is there DOT legal LED's available?

Yes, but only as a complete unit, not as bulb replacements.

That is what I found when I searched but wasn't sure if anyone had found a DOT bulb replacement. I wonder what the reason is for not having a DOT bulb replacement?

In a word? Photometrics.

Lights on motor vehicles have to meet very specific Federal criteria regarding light output, beam shapes and patterns, color, etc. The shape of the reflector inside the light is specifically shaped to reflect light from an incandescent bulb into a certain pattern, giving a very specific viewing angle. LED's don't have the same characteristics as an incandescent bulb (no filament) so it changes the pattern. Also, LED's give a much different temperature light, which affects how the light will appear through a lens.
