Sportbikes are way more comfortable for me than cruisers for some reason.....1000's are more comfy than 600's because they are a little bit longer but def dont get a 1000 lol Look for 06-07 kawasaki 636 they are a great bike.

As for insurance check with state farm thats who I have gone through for the last 5 years with bike insurance and have the best rates for my area.

Thanks for the pointers guys, yeh the insurance isn't going to be real cheap. I'll have to check out state farm. I found a couple CBR 600F4's somewhat close I'm going to look into next week hopefully when I'm done with school.

That is the only thing stopping me from buying one. Good luck though in your search!

Yeh, I'm hopefully going over to a buddies to ride his CBR tommorrow after work as long as it isn't raining like it has been for the last month. I want to get a feel for the position and bike in general

My mom has her motorcycle through State Farm. No idea what insurance is though. :dunno:

My insurance for liability on my motorcycle with me on it through Progressive is $127/yr (paid one-time).

Just one more reason to sway you towards older motorcycles. :)

I'm not a sport bike guy either. Maybe it's because I'm 6'5" but they're just REALLY uncomfortable for me. :dunno:

Tall guys in a sportsbike can look like a circus bear in a bicycle, just not right. Sure, these bikes are pretty uncomfortable, but can be funny as hell...

Sportbikes are not bad comfort wise unless you ride long distance. Leaning over the bars will wear your hands and back out on a long ride. Cruisers are nice but they don't offer up nearly as much fun.

the 600 F4's arent the best becasue they are carberated. Look for an F4I they arent much more $$ and way better all around bike.
