New LED 3rd brake light....problem

So, your 3rd brake light is lit like a tail light normally? Brake and the 3rd brake light goes out? That sounds like a wiring issue to me.

I could fix it if it was here in my driveway.

I think that's what it was doing. But when I turned on the interior lights, the 3rd brake light worked just fine which is why I think its a resistance problem due to the LED's VS conventional bulbs.

So you have 2 light circuits, and a ground, correct?

If the door is open, the cargo light is on. If it was backwards, it would be opposite.

If the ground was not complete, the cargo light will "find" a ground through the brake light circuit.

Post pics, we can help. If you have a meter, we can see what is happening on the ground circuit.

Yep. No problem. My bet is the ground circuit is the issue. It grounded through the brake circuit, lighting it up. Poor ground in the connector on that new light.

Here's what happens

with the LED tail lights and LED 3rd brake light plugged in
-plugged in 3rd = brake light on on 3rd only
-push brake pedal = tails come on, 3rd goes off
-let off pedal = tails stay on, 3rd comes on
-turn on interior lights = 3rd goes off and tails go off
.......................................tails and 3rd work properly
-cargo light = can turn on with the interior lights off (they're supposed to be on for it to come on)

If I plug back in the factory 3rd or leave the LED 3rd unplugged, everything works just fine.

I know the turn signals are working properly because they aren't "hyper" with the new tails. I think there are resistors or something mounted on the back side (probably in the gray box mounted on the back of them).

I found a single slip of paper in the box. It wasn't installation instructions (there aren't any), it was a legal notice saying that "this light is intended for off-road and show use only and not to be used on a vehicle driven on the road" b.s. stuff. We'll see how it shows up in the daylight.
