New GM Cost Savings

On my F150 theres a keyed lock over the spare tire rod hole. Worst idea ever.

Of course it seized up and I couldn't get the tire down. Ive since removed the lock cylinder and threw it out. I don't know what the purpose of that was.

The GM ones have a latch that you have to crank up slightly, and it'll release and drop the tire. BUT otherwise the latch will keep it in place, regardless of how much you lower the winch.

I had to use a sawzall to get mine off a few years ago. Luckily I was in the apartment parking lot. This is upside down in the picture

Down here in TX we do not have a lot of rust issues, unless you are in the panhandle, or along the coast.

No problem with mine rusting, and my truck is 12 years old. :dunno:

Same here, but, mine did live in Texas for at least 8 of those 12. I guess it makes sense why it's always being so fucking stubborn though. :jester:
