Need some tire help for the Acadia

My wife has Hancook Ventus P255/16R18 tires on her Acadia and they are absolutely terrible in the snow. We have had a fair bit more snow this year so it has been more noticeable than it was last year, and she even got in an accident which I will account to the tires.

I am looking to get her some new tires for her car, but the size is very strange and there don't seem to be many choices out there. My question for you fellas is, what are alternative sizes that I could have put on her same rims and not have to worry too much about them? I don't know much about tires at all so I thought I would check with you guys first.

Also, if you have any recommendations in a nice tire that is affordable, please let me know. TIA

I would go with the Continental Cross Contact. I think it would be about the best bet for snow. We are screwed because we have the 19" size and it is really limited on tire availability and we kind of were forced to get the Firestone Destination ST. Needless to say we didn't get into much snow when we went up to visit mom in PA and what little travel we did do in the snow it wasn't the greatest.

We also only get 35k out our our tires, no matter what brand we get. Just seems to wear out fast on our Acadia.

I've had good luck with the Bridgestone Dueler H/L Alenza on the wife's Acadia(s). both in 19" on the last one and 20 on this one.

As far as the Continentals go, I don't have experience with their SUV tires, but their Extreme Contact DWS were amazing on my S4. They're definitely making good tires lately.

Thanks for the suggestions fellas. So are you all suggesting that I stick with the same size tire then and not look at different sizes to fit the factory wheels?

I've looked around a few times at different sizes for the acadia, and I didn't find enough additional options for brands/type of tires to make it worth dealing with, so I've stuck with the stock sizes. That said, I haven't looked in a while (the 2012 is still on it's original tires), and there might be something new, but i haven't shopped in a while to know for sure.

I might shop around for a different size when we need new tires in two years. I wish I could get the Michelin LTX M/S2. I really like them on my truck.

Quick check the Michelin does come in a P265/60/18 Not much of a difference than your size. Here is the calculator.

I can't exactly speak for Acadias, or specifically about the Continental CrossContact, but here's my 2¢ about Continental tires in general. All 3 Nissan Altimas that we have purchased over the years have all come with Continental tires. I think the 01 and the 05 were both Conti-pro tires, I'm not sure exactly what's on the 2014, I just know they are Continental tires. They all have more road noise than I would like, and the 01 and 05 both needed new tires before 30k miles. I think it was actually closer to 20 or 25k miles. That has had me turned off to all Continental tires.

Weird, as my experience has been completely the opposite. I put Conti Pro-Contact Extreme DWS all seasons on my S4 and they had nearly 50k miles on them when I got rid of it. They probably had another 10k in them. The Conti Pro-Contacts that came on my Sportwagen TDI had about 20k on them when i sold it, and looked like they would live to see 50K as well. Not knocking Scotty's experience, just putting my positive experience out there as well as a counter-point.
