I am looking at a 2009 silverado hybrid. Any thoughts on these?

Why?

I don't feel the extra cost for the hybrid is worth it. Now if you are getting it for a great deal then that is a different story.

It's not heaven . . . it's Iowa!
My uneducated, unresearched opinion is that the cost of the new batteries would buy a lot of gas. Now maybe the batteries will never need replacing, I don't know. :dunno:

From what math I've done on them, the extra cost of the hybrid takes too many miles to pay for itself.. If gas prices suddenly jumped WAY up, it might be worth it. Otherwise, I'd skip it.

If you need something more fuel efficient for a daily driver, get something other than a truck.. :dunno:

If any of that hybrid junk ever craps out, you going to wish you had a 90 model junker!

IIRC, the hybrid model only gets around 2mpg better than the 4.8.... combine that with the increased cost for a battery and decreased payload, I wouldn't bother.

But if it was at a really good price then it might be worth trying. Just saying.....

Yeah, if the price was low enough... If it were me, though, and if the price were too low, I'd be thinking something was wrong with it..

+1

I asked a fella around here who had one why he purchased one...He says "It's the only truck my wife let me buy". Seems his wife happens to work for the ACLU.
And so I said, "I'm sorry to hear that...on both counts." :jester:

Wasn't she violating some sort of "civil liberties" of his, by not allowing him to do (buy) what he wanted?? :jester:
