Any updates???? :dunno:

He got it fixed! I saw a post on another site about it. Turns out the installer tapped under the dash and a wire rubbed through and shorted. Lucky he didn't have a fire!

Ok, I got it fixed, here a wire from where they tapped for the remote start was rubbing on a metal plate right under the steering column. So I re wrapped the connection, and put some tape over the metal edge, and used wire ties to pull the harness up away a little farther away.

At least it wasn't a major component, or something that was impossible to find. and at least I wasn't going down the road, or farther away from home.

This should solve the problem permanently. The installer should have done a better job of insulating the power lead. Looks like Scotty was on the right track.

I knew right where they would have spliced in right behind that metal plate, but I never woulda figured they'd be dumb enough to leave exposed wiring unwrapped where it could rub against metal. :uhoh: Bestbuy also messed up Daddy's Tahoe when they did his remote start. I told him exactly what was wrong (the installers failed to hook up an essential wire)and he had to end up explaining to the installers how to fix it. I guess Best Buy isn't as good as most people think. :dunno:

Yeh, thanks for the help Scotty, they did have the wire wrapped, but they must have pulled the harness down, and it was sitting on that plate, and eventually ran through.

Also Scotty now when I use my 2 way remote and press the f unlock, which should "silently" unlock it, the horn chirps once after the parking lights flash 3 times. Then the remote beeps twice several times and then quits. Do you have any idea what that means? I'm a little PO'd at BB, and they are 45 mins. away, and I don't want to take it there if I don't have to.

You can PM me if that's easier
