I may have to find something else to do with my Sunday afternoons. NASCAR is getting ridiculous with these new plans.

Last year, under the new system, David Ragan would have made the Chase. 16th finish in points, at worst. Nice step up from 28th he actually had, good year for a guy with only 3 top 10s the entire year.

Say goodbye to Jr's Chase hopes and carve Jimmie's name on the trophy one more time...

I do kinda like this part.

Any driver who wins a Chase race automatically advances to the next segment.

The rest seems kinda gimmicky, though. :dunno:

WAY too silly and complicated. Basically anybody who has any chance of being competitive will make the chase. Seems a bit stupid to even have a "chase".

My brain hurt reading all that. Whatever happen to whoever finishes first wins?

Rather ridiculous in my opinion. The whole chase deal is why I stopped watching Nascar like I use to. I honestly prefer the old Winston Cup style points system. That said, it's nice to see drivers/teams get rewarded more for actually winning races.

One day Brian France will realize auto racing and stick & ball sports aren't the same. Hopefully it's before he drives Nascar into the grave...

The top 15 drivers with the most wins over the first 26 races will earn a spot in the NASCAR Chase Grid -- provided they have finished in the top 30 in points and attempted to qualify for every race (except in rare instances).

So, if a driver wins 3 races at the start of the season, then breaks a rib and misses a few weeks is he in or out of the Chase? Will the answer depend on whether or not he's a Hendrick driver? :p
