Sucks to hear but thankfully everyone is OK. She sure nailed him...and I bet the truck has more damage then the bumper, the cosmetic bumper probably pushed up into the fender and the real impact bumper under the chrome is surely damaged. What looked like slight damage in the hit and run in my Sierra where the cosmetic bumper was pushed in a little was over $3k to fix.
Glad that everyone was ok! Hopefully the new car won't set you back too much. They are making cars better in some aspects as you won't have nearly as much engine troubles as you did back in the day.
My Dad's 2000 Malibu has 210k miles on it and it still runs like it did the first day I drove it. I would love to see what it looks like after a valve cover comes off. He claims that 300k is a possibility and maybe even 350k. It boggles my mind but he has always run crap oil in it and no synthetics.
