So is that when you put the pedal to the floor as if the linkage is moving a wire, or just accelerating in general and wire swinging toward the back of the truck just from moving?

Being an 84, I know your bright lights are on the turn signal multifunction switch. Have you played with the bright lights at all with the headlights on to see if the makes a difference? If that bright light switch goes bad, it too will keep the headlights from coming on at all. I don't have a spare mfswitch, but I prolly have about whatever else you might need.

Just accelerating in general. And I never thought about messing with the brights to see if that will make a difference. I'll play with that

I have a feeling that's where you're problem is going to be. It is the most common failure for headlights not working after the headlight switch itself.

Thanks man. I'll look at just replacing it and seeing what happens

EDIT: As soon as I figure out which switch. There's a dimmer switch on the autozone website that says it controls high beams, combo switches on other websites which say turns and high beams, and a turn signal switch on autozone's website which doesn't mention high beams at al.

Well switch replaced. Still nothing. Ive also noticed that the passenger side rear lights aren't even flashing as a turn signal. I wonder if a broken wire back there might have done it.

Doesn't look like the switch is getting power either. Either the dimmer or the pull out headlight toggle

Has anyone heard of adding something like a ford remote starter solenoid to the firewall in the wiring pattern to the starter to help boost amperage to the starter? I just got a new battery and still at times have issues with the starter just clicking. I am tempted to try it as a bandaid fix until I can get the alt and starter both replaced.

It probably is NOT the starter... it's probably the solenoid...
That's real common on the big blocks... especially is someone has left off the heat shield that keeps exhaust heat away from it.
