Nah, as long as I can keep the rattles at bay, I'll be fine, the dash mat covers the cracks and dips very well. A new dash is ridiculously expensive and finding a better used dash around here is going to be next to impossible.

Couldn't remember who had this thread, saw it in your siggy pic of your trans cooler thread.

Anyway I very recently had my dash removed, what a pain.A friend helped me all the way through.I used JB Weld in a couple of spots, worked well but I should have roughed up the surface a little more, one seems to have come loose.Overall the dash is pretty solid with the exception of one crack.Gonna get a dash pad soon

Oh,I removed it to repair those pesky three mounting holes and to replace the recirculation blend door motor.

Yep, it's no fun unless you've got plenty of free time to spread it out over at least a weekend.

You might try a SuedeMat dash cover, which is what I have. It's not real suede, but it's much better than those typical carpet covers. Fit is fairly good, it's only a little short near the driver's side window vent. Beats looking at a tired dash all the time.

Eventually, I'm going to have to do this all over again too. My blend actuator gets stuck on heat if I go past about 3/4. Also, the rubber around the defrost door fell off, so when I run the AC it sometimes fogs the windshield.

I'll check out the Suede Mat,thanks for the tip.

Yeah, those blend motors are fun huh?

When we re-installed the dash we wedged(un-knowingly) the trun signal flasher up against the big black air tube and when I turned on the signal it's click, click, click sound became a clunk, clunk, clunk  We fixed that today

Good morning,

I'm new to the GMT 400 world. I bought a 1995 Chevy Cheyenne 2500 W/T for my 14 yr old son as his first vehicle. I'm going thru it trying to fix certain things that are wrong, do some maintenance, etc...

Do you remember how you took both dashes apart? And if so, would be willing to share that knowledge with me? I have to take his dash out to convert the truck from manual windows/locks over to power and I also have to fix an issue with his a/c not working on the high setting.

Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Ray

Go back a couple of posts to #26 and click on Kyle's GMT400 dash swap,it will help. These dashes are a PITA to remove, lots of screws, bolts, connectors and wires to remove.

When I did mine I just kind of followed my nose.
