Last year I've bought one of those kits but still didn't install it into a bicycle. My old bicycle is not suitable for the kit due to its rear suspension...

Got the new sprocket installed today. :evillol:
It added an extra 5 mph with the carb running really bad. The carb is running rich and so it four strokes at WOT. Before the gear swap this would have limited me to ~18 mph. Today I was able to cruise at 22-23. I'll probably just cut back the fuel shutoff to run correctly at WOT since messing with the main jet is a PITA and a huge gamble for it to turn out correctly.
Then my rear tire tube blew out so I'll be swapping both tire and tube tomorrow. There is something wrong with the tire because this is the third tube to blow out.

Got a video, right now I'm waiting for it to be uploaded to YT since PB wasn't cooperating.

Loaded up today to make a 7 mile round trip. After estimating fuel usage, mileage came out to nearly 150 mpg.

RIP

Well today was most likely that little engine's last go. After riding to class and back I decided to finally replace the broken tooth drive sprocket with the beefy one I had ordered the day after assembling the bike. The sprocket puller designed for it had stripped a long time ago so I had bought a gear puller and wanted to try again. The gear puller only succeeded in putting a slight bend in the drive shaft. So I cussed a bit but I thought, well that is obviously not going to work so I'll try prying it off. As soon as a tooth violently snapped off the sprocket I remembered that old saying, a hammer never fixed anything. But it was too late to worry about that. I decided to try the other side just in case the sprocket had bent but I only broke more teeth off. Next, the aluminum housing crumbled off. So I cussed a lot more because now even if I did get the sprocket off, the cover is also the housing for the clutch mojigger (the thing that engages and disengages the drive shaft) and it now only had two bolts to keep it on, not enough to keep it closed and allow the clutch to operate correctly.

So after setting a personal top speed record of 36 mph without a tail wind, nearly 800 miles of me abusing it, it is crippled by my tinkering addiction. :(

Then to add insult to injury, when I turned the bike back into a bicycle I went on a ride to see if I could still make the same commute on my own and the bicycle chain broke nearly two miles from home on the hottest stretch of road on my route.

Now I'm either going to trade the engine to a guy in Austin for a 70's road bike so I can still get around cheap or turn the engine into a bad arse table lamp.

That's almost funny... but it sucks that the little engine is a goner.

Yeah, the good thing though is that since the bike was my commuter bike long before I had ever bought the engine, it had one of the largest cranks on the market. After rebuilding the hubs for the engine, both tires rotate with almost no resistance. Then since the back tire has the largest cruiser tire I could find, the final drive ratio is very high also. I was able to pedal for a relatively sustainable 16-17 mph...but it is painful going that slow.

Here are 2 pics of the damage
