That's crazy! I've never seen any tire with OWL on both sides...maybe a Canada thing, eh?

Wouldn't surprise me... I just know that browsing on Tirerack, they have the OWL verson and a black sidewall version :dunno:

It lists that for here...the black sidewall version are black on both sides, the other are OWL on one and black on the other.

I would NOT buy anything heavier than you have now if possible. Even 4 or 5 pounds can affect acceleration and fuel economy. I would most certainly check out how they are rated for ice and snow considering where you are.

Just my opinion.

All the tires I listed are within 4lbs or less heavier

The M/S2 is the highest rated, that's why I'm looking at it...

I don't NEED the ability to haul/tow 13,500 lbs with the 121 load rating

Generally there's more ice than deep snow here... But the past couple years there's been more snow than usual...

I do plan on ordering a set of tire chains just in case

It's pretty hard to find decent tires that weigh the same as factory ones.

My truck has the Firestone Destination AT's on it. They did well in the snow when I drove it (2 winters). There is no road noise and I'm getting good wear out of them (I can do the math if you'd like since they haven't been on the truck all the time). I'm consistently between 15-16mpg mixed driving; low of 11 towing at 70mph and a high of 20 at 60mph empty. Overall, a great tire for my needs.

I checked prices on them when I got the truck, they were around $125/tire locally. $500 all said and done is a great price!

The cheapest around here was $908 for the Firestones... Only one shop had them in stock at the time
OK, the place I was looking here has them for $650 plus tax (mount/balance/disposal), but that's in a 265/75R16. $735 for 265/70R17 (but that also includes some stuff for the TPMS).

You have to add the 30% increase for crossing the border.

Of the ones you have posted, I like the Michelin LTX A/T2. I'm running General Grabber A/T2 on mine.
