So why are you putting money into your DD. Save it for the Silverado.
This isn't my DD. Its my winter truck (which is even worse for adding parts to it). Basically if I continue the time frame I had this last year, the Silverado gets driven 7mo and the S10 5mo.

I'm only adding HID's to it (already have the bulbs and ballasts; bought some before DDM stopped selling them) because I love the extra light output and new headlights would be the only way to do it (and I'm not gonna spend big bucks on a retro-fit). I see nothing wrong with adding safety and visibility. :dunno:

Other than that, I'm just gonna fix the small problems it has. The driver's door lock needs to be replaced so I'm not relying on the key fob to unlock the doors all the time. The spots with primer showing need to be painted if this is gonna see salt all the time. The engine isn't getting any "go fast" parts other than a BBP mail-order tune. Interior isn't getting anything other than a factory CD player and a good cleaning. I took my bed mat and tonneau cover off the old S10 to put on this one. Would I love to replace the entire dash panel, yes, but that's not happening.

One major thing I am kinda worried about is a possible fuel line leak. :ohnoes: There's something dripping on the driver's side near the wheel/frame. I haven't checked it yet, but I'm hoping that's not the case. If it is, it would explain why it is being hard to start.

Keep in mind that these lights will be below them.

This guy appears to have either #1 or #2 installed. His cut-off line is really nice! In the thread I found them in, he never mentions the brand, but that they are from eBay.

I'm leaning towards #1 or #2.

Don't forget you can always drill the hole in the other ones for the fog lights ;)

IIRC types 1, 2, and 3, use 9005s and 9006s, type 4 is the chrome version of what I had, the low beam starts as H1's

What do you mean? Drill a hole in some aftermarket ones that AREN'T designed for fogs?

Well, then I'll definitely narrow it down to 1, 2, 3 because I already have 9005 and 9006 HIDs.
Figured out what is leaking....rubbed my fingers in it and smelt it. Its gear oil. :frustration: The driver's side seal on the front diff is leaking.

Yes, you can put the light socket in the aftermarket fogs...

FYI, though, those factory fog lights are USELESS.

That's what I'm leaning towards right now.

Thanks! This summer I'm really planning on concentrating on fixing up the bed and rear bumper. Fix the dent and rust spots on the bed, use some DupliColor Bed Armor on the inside of the bed and maybe the underside, and bed-line the rear bumper (I'd like to eliminate all the plastic covers on the bumper; mostly because they trap moisture/snow/salt).

Didn't know you could add specific sockets (not the wiring harness) to a lens like that.

So in other words I should just stick with what I got (standard turn signals and aftermarket "fogs" mounted on the bumper). Maybe I'll just do that; save the money and dinking around with the BCM to get the factory fogs to work, and get better looking turn signals to match the headlights. :)

In a totally unrelated topic to lights, has anyone added an AUX input to their factory radio? I've found a couple of write-ups, but they make it so that you have to have a CD playing in order to use a MP3 player. HERE. I really like the idea, just not having a CD constantly spinning. The only other alternative is a $50 part that uses the AUX connector (the one for an external CD player, CD changer, etc).

Nice find Matt. :)
Thanks Nick. :) It gives me something else to tinker with too. This one I won't be holding back when it comes to fixing what is wrong since I'll be keeping this one for a long time :)fingersx:).

For the lights, I'm thinking of this combination:

1

And then these for turn signals. They look dark, but I don't think they are really that dark, but I can't find pics of them on a S10/Blazer. :dunno: This one is made by the same company that makes the headlights. The description says "chrome" not smoked.

Its either that one or this one.

Which, in looking at them closer together, I'm actually starting to like the 2nd one better.
