Build one your self.

Buy an old Ford Courier

Install VW wabbit truck diesel

You will then have an ugly truck that get 50 MPG for much cheaper and possibly more reliable.

Have you driven one or done some research on reliability or something?

I know Mahindra trucks, and they're not really the last Coke of the desert :nono:

I've seen some in Brazil and a considerable amount of them in Uruguay. Their engines are not so good and the trim is too poor, I'd rather get either a Nissan Frontier or a Toyota Hilux despite their higher price tag.

Yes used one for work while on travel for work in Dubai. One break down and could not pass the inspection to haul even 1.4 explosives. Truck was newer with less than 1000 miles and fuel lines and brake lines were not properly restrained to the frame and already had wear. We went back and got a Hilux. Company but the Mahindra on the Do not rent list for safety reasons.

At least the ones targeted to Latin-American markets are better assembled, since they come to Uruguay in CKD kits and have some low-quality stock parts replaced with local components. But their engines still suck and are a PITA to perform preventive maintenance...

Took this picture 2 days ago at the Windmills Park, in my hometown.

Brazilian-made version of the Mahindra PikUp. Some improvements were done, the truck looks better built now...

Yesterday I saw this Mahindra SUV tuned for cross-country racing.

Both are factory-fitted with a 2.6L 110hp OHV 4-banger turbodiesel, which was recently phased out in favor of a 120hp 2.2L OHC turbodiesel fitted with EGR and DPF.

Haven't seen any brand-new Mahindra for a while, mostly because ABS brakes and airbags became mandatory in all new cars to be sold in Brazil. Its local dealer in my hometown still advertises them, but I have only seen some Chinese econoboxes there...
