Does anyone know if all Mag-Hytec trans pans have a bung for a temp sender? Their website says they do but looking at them, specifically the 4L80E I can't see and kind of bung for a sender. Can see the drain plug hole though. Just got my factory pan back today and after seeing what happened to it after the sender adapted was brazed, I kind of want to get rid of the eyesore and get a real pan with more capacity and a real bung already built in.

What you need is one of these its makes things very easy for mounting a gauge. Thread your sending unit in the top and the fluid goes thru side to side. As for a pan look no further IMO then the Derale cooling tube pan. Extra 3 quart capacity and it WILL drop your temps 20 degrees on its own. If you don't see the pan right away click part Number 14207. It looks like the old number 14107 is discontinued and they improved with the new part number which is 14207. Also my pan is the 14107 and was 3 quarts extra. Now the new pan is almost 5 quarts extra capacity. EVEN BETTER. 4 qts 16 ounces extra fluid only helps.

Looks like a good idea. I wonder if it would hang down to far to get hit on something if you are off road?

my 3 quart extra B&M pan was no lower than the trans crosmember, and the exaust crossover is even lower than it.

the derale pan is top notch, my B&M pan was 1/2 thick alluminum. i drilled and tapped for 1/4" (or maybe it was 1/8" :dunce:) NPT for my sender, used pipe sealant and never had any issues. :)

Cool.

I would think aluminum would be better for it's rigidity and cooling properties over steel.

Right after I originally posted this I found the Derale pans by googling 4L80E pans. Looks like I will be going with that one. Less than half the price of the Mag hytec. I just can't see putting out over $350 for a pan. Of course the Derale isn't quite as pretty as the mag :D
