Price-to-truck ratio is actually not so bad considering what those compact Toyota trucks can do. Even some U.S. military use them overseas...

Driving them and what else?? Get groceries?
Brian. Stop playing idiot.

Just because it's not a big manly truck like you drive... doesn't mean it's not a truck that can do 99% of what the average truck owner needs... AND you don't have to herd a giant vehicle everywhere you go (which I am not a fan of).

:tmc:

I was going to say the same thing about you but decided to be the bigger man and not call names...

Don't underestimate these rigs man, they can stand a lot of severe duties even in war field. Not every 'Yota is a Prius-like piece of crap.

Re: Looking at Toyota Tacoma trucks.

This isn't your style Jim. You need to go find an imported Hilux from the 90's instead. The Toyota badging just ruins it.

Re: Looking at Toyota Tacoma trucks.

Haven't gone to drive one on an extended drive yet. We've had visitors staying with us all week. They left today. Probably go out looking tomorrow. I have absolutely no idea where this will lead.

I really liked the Frontier I had, it ran like a scalded cat! The only issues are it is near the end of it's production run, and the 4.0 v6 has some timing chain tensioner issues. It's not like you would put enough miles on it to ever have that, though!

Being near the end of a production run is actually a good thing. Throughout the build of a particular model, the manufacturer fixed the issues that crop up. In theory - by the end of the model run - the best versions of that particular vehicle are produced.

Most any vehicle would be good for us. We rarely ever put 40 - 50K on one. Most have their major issues over 100K

Not if you maintain and take care of your vehicle.

I have rarely worked on Toyotas. IIRC the majority of the work I have done is maintenance. The only vehicle that I seen with tons of problems is the Matrix or Vibe, or whatever the cross that was with Pontiac. Had transmission problems.

They are nice trucks, just the price scares me away. I'm sure you'll score one at a good price.
