We get new plates with every new car. They stay with the car here. If you sell, the new owner uses them. After 5 years they make you replace them with new ones (for some reason). The actual registration is a sticker on the windshield.

I know it's not a problem, but I figured I should tell you
I've got the same plates from my old car... They're on the third vehicle... We just have to change the sticker on them
The only time we need new ones is when you can't read the plate anymore
Oh... And Alberta rocks because we do NOT need a front plate!
