Let's Talk NASCAR - 2012 Season

Oh well... NASCAR racing is more about the show and less about the competition these days anyway. Add to that the cookie cutter cars and the completely interchangeable drivers and it's becoming more boring annually.

No wonder I don't watch it much and their audience is shrinking every year.

But if they would do what I want them to do... It would be exciting again...

They could get away with that in some other parts of the world Jim. Too many lawyers and safety nazis here.

Get rid of the fans in the stands at Daytona and Talladega.. Turn those two tracks into bubbled "Thunder Domes," sell tickets in different cities so fans can all go share in the experience at stadiums or other venues that have giant screens, blasting audio, etc...

That would eliminate the safety problem for the fans and it would give more fans an opportunity to "share in the experience" because the venues would be licensed by NASCAR in some way and they could mandate shaking seats, etc. "so it's like you're really there, feeling the thunder of the engines roaring by..."

It would also allow NASCAR to get rid of the restrictor plates and have REALLY wild racing at those two tracks!

All that has to be done is move the stands back a 100 feet or so. Lets face it, the lower seats at a superspeedway are damn near pointless. You can't see shat. So move the stands back and raise them up, reinforce the fencing. Take the plates off and make the superspeedway cars less aerodynamic.

After Bobby Allison damn near parked it in the stands at Dega we've been blessed with the restrictor plate for good.
