So, give them more rear spoiler, so they have more down force, because the drivers aren't smart enough to stay off each other's bumpers in the corners??

The pussification of America continues! :fume: :jester:
Ever entered a corner at 195?

Entering a corner at 195 has nothing to do with "ME"...or you either for that matter.

These guys are getting paid to be "Professional" race car drivers...
If they can't drive... they will be weeded out... "REAL QUICK"...

Dang it... it's supposed to be CAR RACING... not just taking a Sunday cruise till the end and then trying to sneak into the front for a win...

Heck... I wouldn't care if they made em go back to closer to stock bodies and got rid of "ALL" of the "MANDATED" spoilers and aero kits.
They could also loosen restrictions on the engines and drive trains.
Then the crew chiefs could build REAL CARS again... not the cookie cutter POS things that are out there now.

You can't tell one from the other without looking at the paint job...
2 feet apart at 195 mph they don't have a lot of control over the cars. They are going to bump. They need to have enough downforce to have some control when they do. The spoilers and aero packages keep the cars on the ground.

I'd love to see some cars that looked something like the stock versions instead of the cookie cutter cars.

I'm not disagreeing with what downforce does to the cars, Zem. But, if the cars are too stable, they'll just get nose to tail, run around in circles "saving" their cars 'til the end, and we'll basically have what we've had the last few years.. Everyone runs around in circles for half the race, "staying out of trouble" and "waiting to make their move at the end" and it'll be a boring race.. :dunno:

Daytona and Bristol are 2 tracks I would like to go to. I have been to Indy twice for the NASCAR race.

Outta the two, I enjoyed Bristol way more then Daytona. The Daytona 500 atmosphere is fun of course, but as far as action goes, Bristol hands down.

My all time favorite track to see a race at is Richmond.

I've been to Bristol a couple times and I'm not a big fan of being there in person. I do think that if you are a fan you should do it at least once though. The racing there super hard to follow (I've sat down low and up high) and the action isn't as good since they repaved it. The thing I disliked the most was that instead of the awesome thunder the cars make flying by at other tracks there is just a super loud constant DRONE the whole time.

Talladega is neat if you are up high.

Yeah thats for sure...if you plan on talking to anyone sitting beside you, you might take a lip reading course before you go or just text them

That's what we did

I see your point but Superspeedway racing has always been like that since the restrictor plate was implemented. Without them, the modern aerodynamic cars would probably run 235. One airborne car in the stands, and there would never be another Daytona 500 (and possibly no NASCAR).

Shorter tracks where the cars don't reach terminal velocity allow for some throttle control, but these guys are just along for a flat out ride at Daytona.

I don't claim to have THE answer.

Speeds well in excess of 200 mph (320 km/h) were commonplace at Talladega.

Talladega Superspeedway has the record for the fastest recorded time by a NASCAR stock car in a closed oval course, with the record of 216.309 mph set by Rusty Wallace on June 9, 2004.[7] Wallace circled the 2.66-mile (4.28-km) trioval in 44.270 seconds, which surpassed the previous record held by Bill Elliott (212.809 mph) set in 1987, but doesn't replace the record due to the fact it was a radio test and not a NASCAR sanctioned event.

Some of the drivers have complained for the last year or two that the cars had "too much" downforce.. "Get rid of some of the downforce and put it back in the hands of the drivers." :dunno:

I remember NASCAR claiming to have a rule about "no bumping in the corners" on Super Speedways a few years ago.. Maybe they need to dust that "rule" off again.. Not that they'll enforce it on the likes of Jr. But, they can "threaten" to enforce it on others.. and then make some "judgement call" that stirs up the media and gets 'em some free press for a few days. :uhoh:

Oh well... NASCAR racing is more about the show and less about the competition these days anyway. Add to that the cookie cutter cars and the completely interchangeable drivers and it's becoming more boring annually.

No wonder I don't watch it much and their audience is shrinking every year.
