I didn't think ANYBODY on earth deserved that ride myself...I know. Harvick was one of 'em.![]()
No kiddin'! I did NOT think he deserved that car AT ALL, when he got it!![]()

I'm not sure who DID, but my feeling (at the time) was "that snot-nosed brat Kevin Harvick sure didn't!"![]()

He didn't want to take over that car. He was put in there because there was no one else to do it. He did win two races, and won rookie of the year in '01.![]()

I'm not bagging on his performance.. At the time, though, I didn't think he deserved the ride ... and I highly doubt anyone else they could've put in that ride would've "deserved it," either!
That's all I was really gettin' at..![]()

I think it was all about the sponsorship. RCR had a few more years with GM Goodwrench as the sponsor.![]()

As it turns out, putting him in that ride was a smart move. No veteran would have filled that void, so by putting a "new" guy in there, they were able to build on a future without looking like they were trying to replace Earnhardt (which nobody could have done).
It worked out but I agree with Michael here. I didn't like it at the time.
