ScottyBoy, if I wanted to do this with white LED's but I didn't want it to be any brighter than they are now, how would I go about that? I love the clean light of LED's but I also like the lights to be subtle like they are now.

I dont have a passenger airbag switch since I have a Suburban. Only trucks came with those. And Sorry, I don't have any pics of my guages. I might take some in the next day or two when I get some time. I might just go ahead and and pop out the cluster and take some pics to do a "write up" on how to swap the bulbs. All you have to do is buy 6 LED bulbs (194 size) and 6 194 twist lock bulb bases, then swap out the 6 bulbs in the guage cluster.
I didn't do a write up since Thunderstruck already did one, but he didn't include pics. I may do one with pics.

You can simply unsolder the stock bulbs and solder in an LED in its place as far as the door switches. As far as the dash switches (headlight, wiper,fog, etc.) I did solder LED's in place of the stock bulbs and they are a bit brighter. I guess you could use a higher value resistor on each LED and that will dim them a bit. But on the door switches, I purposely arranged the LED's under each switch because I wanted it a lil brighter than stock. The dash switches seemed bright enough stock, and are fine (to me, anyway) leaving the bulbs in the same spots, just swapping them with LED's. Be careful with that AC panel though, I've heard from several people that if you get the circuit board too hot with your soldering iron, the tracers will come up off the board. I've helped several people with this swap (talked em throught it with PM''s) and two people on GMT have told me they damaged the circuit board .

I know they do for for 74 bulbs, but I've never seen any for a GMT800 cluster that uses the 194 bulbs. I've seen replacement bulbs with the twistlock already made onto it, but not in LED bulbs. That doesn't mean they don't exist, I've just never seen em anywahere.
Okay, so I'd need 74's but you've only found a way to replace with LED's via the 194 so far, correct?

The main bulbs on 99-02 clusters are 194's. There are some indicator bulbs that are 74's though.
From what I hear, the 03+ clusters have soldered in bulbs.
