Leather Seat Repair

I did a search and nothing came up....

Has anyone ever repaired a tear in leather seats? I know there are a ton of kits out there... any recommendations? any help would be great, otherwise its to google i go and take a shot with one.

A long while back (almost ten years ago) my brother used a leather seat repair kit on the seats in his Caddy. I think he bought it from Autozone or Pep boys. While not perfect, it did look better than the huge split that was there before. From a didtance it looked "ok" but once you got close enough to see it (which is close enough to sit on the seat) you can tell it was repaired. Mainly because it didn't match the leather grain. He got the color to match dead on, but the stuff you paint on to repair the leather looked almost like he used figernail polish or touch up paint and then painted over that with leather dye or paint. I personally wouldn't use it in my own truck (unless I was getting ready to sell it or trade it in), I'd just fork up the dough to get it repaired professionally. :dunno:
