OK, most of you who know me, know my truck had a very rough first 2 years...MANY warranty trips to dealer. I was literally on a first name basis with my SA and he recognized my voice when I would call.

Then all was OK for a couple of years. Then about 3 years ago, at about 40K miles, I replaced all 4 ball joints ($1200) and front brakes, including rotors ($500).

Today I brought it in for rear brakes (they were grinding pretty bad, I knew I had a stuck caliper). They found a few other things too:

Rear brakes, rotors and calipers: $880
Front sway bar bushings/alignment: ~$200
RT upper ball joint (warranty, even though time was up, mileage was not, so they warrantied it): N/C

They also confirmed what I knew...leaking power steering lines. As well as leaking oil cooler lines and trans fluid lines. That would have cost me another ~$1200 or so. I declined as they aren't leaking bad enough to drip on my floor yet. Just enough to wet the lines and undercarriage so far.

Why can't GM figure out how to keep fluids in their engines/trans/PS/etc? Jesus H Christ, they have building cars for over 100 years now. :fume:

I may just pay off the wife's Accord and go buy me a new Ram or F150 and tell GM :pfingers:

Oh, and in case you are wondering...my truck now has just under 57K miles. No, that is not a typo, NOT 157K miles....57K miles. :frustration:

That sucks about the repairs, though.

That may not be a truck, but I would bet you my last dime it would not have had even a fraction of the issues I have had.

If Honda made a real truck, I would buy one in a heartbeat.

Man it really sounds like you have a lemon. The only leaks my truck has ever had was the pinion seal and the driver side axle seal, and that is with 140k on it. I can understand how frustrating it must be to have that many problems with such low mileage.

No, but seriously, it sounds like you need a new truck as the one you have has (understandably) ruined your trust in it and you'll hate it until it's gone.

I have had 3 GMC trucks since 1990...a 1989 RCLB, 2000 ECSB and this one.

Each one has declined in quality. 89 was the best...GREAT truck!!! 2000 was "ok" and my 2007 is a POS.

I am done with GM.

The new Canyon, Frontier and Titan have me curious.

I would have dumped it as soon as the warranty quit covering the problems...but that's just me. My wife's 2014 Sierra is going in tomorrow for the fourth time...it constantly has an airbag warning light on. I'm getting ready to write the demand letter to GM requesting a buyback.

I was actually considering the new Canyon awhile back.

But then I bought a 7000+ lb boat/trailer.

It doesn't help that the new GM trucks are butt-ugly either. :puke:
