Could be, saw him in Albuquerque on Thursday. I looked pretty nice, first time I ever saw a Commander and thought right away that "I would drive that".

... OUCH

Sorry, I guess that didn't read the same way I thought it. What I meant was that most Commanders that I have seen personally look like soccer mom grocery getters. They don't usually catch my attention. Yours looks good already with the lift and tires, and will only keep getting better.

 i was just messin with ya.

I for one agree.... i actually think the Commander would have been a lot more popular of a vehicle if it came about 1.5" taller from the factory with slightly larger tires. They sit really low stock.

goodness thats a long list, sounds like it could be a really fun build, question though, why not leave it like it is and pick up another XJ to turn into a trail rig? They're cheap, theres a huge aftermarket, and if you break it you still have your daily driver to get you to work the next day

Because i'm only going to wheel once in a while... not really a "every weekend" thing. (might go today... interested in a ride to Wharton???)

Because most things on that list I would want regardless if I was going offroading:
1) Roof rack for gear (and looks :D)
2) Matrix front guard with 2" receiver- will allow us to go camping/etc and put one of those hitch haulers on the front with a cooler/gear/etc and carry the bikes off the back.
3) Skid plate package... honestly I wish i had these just for playing around in snow... extra protection is always a good thing

Because in stock form, I bet this Commander can out-wheel most modified XJ's (Check it out: http://www.truckmodcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=13385 )

... Someday i would like to build another "trail rig" though. But the mods im doing to the XK won't make it any less streetable... it'll be better equipped for our future family vacations though

Tim almost flipped his jeep too

He was coming down one of the steep sections and slid to the side which dropped his front end down off the line we were targeting. I had to hang off his bumper to keep the tire side down :ohnoes:
