Why buy new when you can restore?
My truck must already be cranked then because it sits pretty level. I don't know if they came from the factory or not, but I don't have a block in the rear.A 3" suspension lift doesn't sound bad. I wonder how it would look on stock rims (in terms of backspacing) since most guys run a tire that has less backspace with a lift. The 285's will fit and you may need to crank a bit. You can run 33's but they will be stuffed and you will need to crank or they will rub.
Here's a RC 3" lift so that you can run 33's. http://www.roughcountry.com/chevy_4wd_88-98_2-3.html
I will probably get this lift in the future so that I can still fit it in the garage.
Tyler, do you know of any pics of trucks at stock height running 285/70R17's?
265/75R16 (stock size) is 31.6" in diameter
285/70R17 is 32.7
Will the 1.1" difference make that big of a difference for clearance?
I'll see if I can dig up some pics and pm them to you but they will easily fit cranked level.
285/75/16's fit easily with the fenders level and the 285/70/17's are the same radius and diameter so there isn't any difference except the rim size.
Edit: The only thing that may make them rub is the backspacing of the rim but since the 17's you got are factory wheels they should work fine.
Cool! Then if I decide to go with that size I know they'll fit!
