My first truck at 16 was a manual so I got into the habit of using the parking brake right away. I still use it almost daily here to keep the weight of the truck off the pawl like others have mentioned.

I use it every time I turn off the burb, flat or incline....old habit.

Pullin' the lever and pressing the pedal, trying to slow down without brake lights so the cop coming up behind you doesn't see 'em shouldn't count..... :jester:

Unless I'm parked on some sort of incline, though, I hardly ever use parking/emergency brakes.. :dunno:

I use the parking brake everywhere i park a car, or a truck, more due to the habit. Also, since I drive manuals more usually, and the brakes are not so effective in newer cars when the engine is off, parking brakes are extremely important.
