Its obvious that trim piece is more of a protective piece for loading the bed, but it sure hides a pretty insecure section..

We should be prepared for the day the trucks will come with an all-plastic pickup bed...

Almost certain my 2001 Supercrew's bed was plastic fenders. Sure felt it.

My bedsides are fiberglass already

yeah all flaresides and the supercrew bed from ford from 97 and up the bedsides are fiberglass

If mine ever gets removed, it is not going back on. Getting the holes filled and shaved or getting a Styling concepts one.

Yeah, I went with a smooth cap on mine..

Well, it did have some texture to it, but it wasn't the 'spoiler' type that came on the truck.. I have GM Part # 17802389 on the Photobucket link.. I'm not sure if that's still the part #, though..

Fiberglass is actually not bad. Saves weight, already has a good mechanical resistence and doesn't need rustproofing chemical treatments.

Yep, that is what the HDs have. No wingage like my 1500.
