I should have more info by the end of the day. insurance adjuster came yesterday and my dad is supposed to talk to the body shop around 4. I had my eye on a 98 z71 with 98k miles on it only to find out its already sold so that is out of the question now

Best of luck, although, I'd never fix it up myself. You'll have little shit going wrong and pissing you off forever. Not to mention, you'll eventually want a new truck anyway you won't get as much out of it then as you will that check right now.

$8700 sure would go a long way toward a truck upgrade...

I would buy it back, but still use the 7700 left to buy a new truck. I would only replace the grill and headlights and stuff to just get it roadworthy and use it as a beat up work truck or "Hoopty" as some people call them. Or you could get 3 grand for it all busted up so long as it still runs and drives fine. I say this assuming you are correct that there is no frame damage. If there is frame damage, I would just run with the 8700.
