So, I drove the '04 LR today. Outside the truck smelled normal, turned on the heater and it smelled like burnt oil. No oil loss from engine, trans, tranfer, diffs, swivels. Very clean engine bay and all spilled oil is always cleaned. What do you think?

That is a bitch to get to. I'll be able to do somemore trouble shooting this weekend. Only drove it today 'cause I was running late and forgot to start up one of the old ones to warm up.

Pressure test on the cooling system would help, but I can't see how you'd get a burnt oil smell from the core. Anti-freeze smell, yes, but not burnt oil.

The most likely case is that the air is getting drawn in from close to the engine bay and you had a couple of drops on the exhaust from the last time you checked oil or changed it.

Thanks you two. I'll look into everything this weekend. Hopefully it's not raining, truck doesn't fit in garage.
