Alright, this isn't a mainstream accessory but I was curious if any of you guys use a sun/heat shade in your pickup if you're parking them outside all day. I've never had one and am wondering how effective they may be. I've been forced to park my truck in direct sunlight all day and am curious. There are some nice custom fit ones out there and then lots of cheap-o universal ones. Your thoughts?

I have to park mine in the sun down here in Houston all week. I use the cheap ones from the auto parts store. They do work so it's not a complete waste of money, as long as you remember to put them up when you get stopped.

and more importantly, take it down before you take off.

True!
If you park where you can crack open the windows about one half inch to allow heat to escape, they work very well. About 20 degrees drop in temp can be had compared to leaving it ll sealed up. Here in Texas we have tried about everything...

I definately recommend a custom fit sun shield. Most of the heat is going to get in through the windshield, so they do work. I've definately noticed a difference when I forgot to put it up. Now that's it's summer time in TX, I use mine every day if it's going to be in the parking lot for more than a few minutes.
The outside temp was showing 111 deg today... can't imagine how much hotter it would have been in the cab. And being a black truck doesn't help at all.
