I always thought these originated on Corvettes? I've seen em on Vettes for decades.

I think they started on the C2 grandsport vettes.

The old Challengers and Plymouth GTX had them too (around '71 from what a quick search turned up). They had been used on some other road racing cars prior to that (ie. Shelby Cobra).

As BSing aside, Not really my thing, but to each their own. They're subtle enough where they're not really noticeable unless you're looking. At least you don't have your mirrors flipped up!
