I've only seen one TBI motor running and it was pouring gas in WAY too fast (and running rich). I thought they were just supposed to have a fine stream/spray going steady.
TBI is nearly a workaround, it's essentially an electronic-controlled carburetor. Back here it's not so unusual to see some vehicles from early 90's being retrofitted with carburetors instead of TBI due to parts avaliability and ease to servicing.
