GM recalls three models over bad wipers

Is this really worthy of a recall?

Seems more like dumbass damage control to me.

The recall affects 2011 and 2012 Chevrolet Traverse, Buick Enclave and GMC Acadia vehicles registered in 28 cold-weather states and Washington, D.C. Federal safety regulators say ice and snow can build up and restrict movement of the wipers. That can make the wiper arm come loose and malfunction.

I remember one of my dad's customers worked for an auto manufacturer. And I remember him talking to my dad about how they made the decision whether to recall or not.

Basically he said they ran projected numbers and decided on whatever is financially better for the company.

Basically if the deaths resulting from the issue is going to cost more money due to the company paying off individuals/or their families then they will recall the product.

In this case it seems that a recall for this "dumb issue"(which I totally agree with) is probably due to the fact that it is financially viable for them to fix the issue rather than pay off any lawsuits that may result from the damages/loss of life that may occur.

I've had wipers freeze up on every vehicle I've owned.

Geeze, I was raised in the south where it rarely snows and I know that you pop your wipes up when its gonna freeze.

I hope they don't secure them like the Cobolt, G-5/6 platform.
