Working on a tracker with a buddy. He bought it with a supposedly bad fuel pump. We bench tested it and it was pumping so we put a new fuel filter in it and it's getting gas too the motor. It has a little bolt at the end of the fuel rail and if is not really really tight it squirts gas out of it so I think we have good pressure. First two plugs are firing too but it's a pain to get to the others so I haven't checked them. Front plugs were wet to so seems to be getting gas. Still no crank. No codes either. It tries to crank and fires a little after you let off the starter. Anybody got any experience with one of these? It's a 16 valve inline 4 I believe a 1.6 or 1.5

Well if it is getting gas and spark then that leads to timing issue. Have or can you check the timing?

It's got a distributer on it, could I check it via it? I have no idea about this little car but if I have to I can open the front cover and check the belt

If you can find the firing order and what plug is number 1 then you should be able to tell if the timing is off by the distributor. Line up the number 1 plug where is should be normally and check your timing marks. Also look to see how much play there is from when you start to rotate the engine and until the rotor starts to turn, that can give you and idea of how much chain stretch there might be.

If it were me, I would replace the plugs. Add a little oil to the cylinders and see if it fires up. Sounds like it might have lost compression due to gas wash. Those were prone to that.

Frank has a good idea. If you know you got fuel and the pressure is there, then next is spark and you need to check each plug wire. Make sure it is a good strong spark. If those are all good then it is either weak compression not allowing the cylinders to fire properly or the timing is off.

Gas wash? It set up for a while, probably about a year. But he bought it for $300, cool little you haha
