I remember in '99 when the LS came out in the new truck. I thought the world was going to end. My beloved small block was dead. Now, after seeing what the LS platform has actually turned out to be, I am a bit conflicted to see it replaced or altered  I know that things will get even better. I look forward to a new truck :chevy:

Sadly, the new engines will get more complex. I do miss the simpler engine designs. VVT and DOD will most certainly be a part of the new ones.

I am pretty sure we'll be quite happy once we get past the new tech.

I hope GM wouldn't do anything to risk losing out on the aftermarket business. If they make things too complex, DIYers won't be able to do simple stuff in their driveways or garages.

The days of the DIY driveway build are numbered. People will be buying older stuff to Rod.

I doubt that is even a consideration, Carl. It is not in the risk category for them

Direct-injection is not really so complex as it's often portrayed. IF it'll really be introduced in the LS engines, it's not bad at all. As long as it remains offering decent power with the pushrod layout, which leads to a more compact design, it's my choice among gasser truck engines :chevy:

They just bought this technology from Toyota, something about a pay back from the Vortec 5.7 sale or something?
