I have found the greatest gas saving device ever created. You can buy them at Lowes, Home Depot, and many other places. They are inexpensive (sometimes you can even find them for free!) and simple to install. And they will save you hundreds of gallons of gas (or diesel!) in a typical year.

It's called, "The Brick"

You go to Lowes or Home Depot and buy one of these, then take it out to your truck and wedge in under your accelerator pedal. Viola! It starts working immediately!

And, for those who would like to retain a bit more performance at the cost of slightly less fuel economy, they also sell the "Half Brick".

Guaranteed to work or your money back!

No wonder mine never worked......I thought it went on top of the pedal! :jester:

From page two of the manual:

* Warning, faulty or incorrect installation may actually increase fuel usage

I have constantly been playing with gas mileage on my old PU for the past 3 months.
It gets an average of 17MPG in town now. Before it was terrible!!!
No gadgets though. The only stuff I have done is make more power with the same engine by reducing parasitic loss. Vehicles have a great deal of power consuming options and restrictions.
I do have one new update to add. I changed over from a conventional paper element filter and installed a systems 1 mesh filter. I got about 10 to 15 more miles per tank of fuel by reducing oil filter pressure differential.

Now im playing with fuel additives. I filled up today and got 25 miles more per tank by using a small bottle of STP fuel treatment. I put another bottle in it on this tank just to see if the increase was due to the additive of the additive actually cleaning the fuel system. "Note" all week I have been driving in very windy conditions. This tank would have been better in normal weather conditions.

The next project is to install some headers on the old truck. I also have the exhaust from a 99 1ton that is dual 2.5" all the way to the rear axle. I will extend the duals all the way to the exit point. The factory exhaust is also mandrel bent.

Everything I do keeps helping. Most of the stuff is your simply performance upgrades and bolt-on items.
Im looking for a good 20 MPG in town. Maybe I will find it. :dunno:

Switch to steeper gears in the rear end, for around town, you'll get a bump in mileage...
