Do yourself a faveor, get a part time kit for the case, and some hubs. You will love it!
I did it to my '78, and it was awesome. 2 Low was just killer with the 400 hp engine I had

The 203 is a full time case with a differential in it. The LOC position locks the front and rear output shafts so that the diff is not used. The part time kit gives you the lock in the LOC position, and 2wd part time in the former Full Time position.

Add a set of manual locking hubs and you are set!

:withstupid: My cousin had a 78 3/4 Ton Silverado. Couple times while working on it, the full time 4WD was disabled. That summabitch was fun!
